Oskar Schlemmer (1888–1943) was a German painter, sculptor, and choreographer. He was a key figure at the Bauhaus. He was known for his work in which he explored the relationship between the human form and space, often depicting stylized and geometric figures. Bauhaustreppe (Bauhaus Stairway) (1932) is a beautiful and iconic work. The painting, with its simplified forms and a powerful sense of structured harmony, captures a moment of a quiet movement. It is a testament to his ability to find a sense of poetic stillness in everyday life.
